One person, a rotating shelf of games.
Variety Gamers is written by Caden Sorenson. There is no staff, no content calendar handed down from a media group, and no coverage of games nobody here has played. The games on the homepage roster are the games actually being played right now, and when that changes the roster changes.
What the stamp means
Every guide, comparison, and tool page carries a stamp at the top with three facts:
- Patch. The game version the page was written against. If the game has patched since, treat anything mechanical on the page as suspect until the date updates.
- Checked. The last date someone here re-read the page against the live game. This is not the publish date and it is not the date a typo got fixed.
- Tested in game. Present when the claims were confirmed by playing, not read off patch notes or a wiki. Pages without it are still researched, they are just not first-hand.
How verification works
Guides that describe mechanics get flagged as volatile, which means they go back into the queue whenever the game they cover patches. Numbers that come from a data file rather than from playing carry a source in the page's companion source record, so a claim can always be traced to where it came from.
The Steam profile behind these guides is public. When a page says it was tested in game, the hours are there to check. Ascension runs on a private server and reports to nobody, so that one you take on trust.
Nothing here is perfect. Games change fast and a one-person site will sometimes be behind. The stamp exists so you can tell the difference between a page that is current and one that is not, which is more than most guide pages will give you.
Money
There are currently no ads and no affiliate links on this site. If that changes, anything that pays will be labelled where it appears, and it will never determine which game wins a comparison.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, it is worth telling us. Reader corrections are the fastest way a one-person site stays honest, and corrections get applied with the checked date bumped so everyone can see the page moved.
